Objective: To set up a point to point terrestrial video & audio fibre optic link for Eenadu Television at Ramoji Filmcity, Hyderabad
To transport 16 channels of Digital Video & Analog Mono Audio from the Eight Master Control Rooms to the Earth Station over 400m of fiber Optic Cable with ZERO loss in signal quality.
A TV channel requires zero signal downtime; hence each stage of the link design required monitoring capability and redundancy. The monitoring capability allows the availability of all primary & standby signals to the operator at any given time at Fiber Optic Input, at Earth Station, at Fiber Optic Link output & for Uplink and Downlink. This monitoring setup ensures the presence of the MCR outputs and the presence of the signals after down linking through IRDs. In the unlikely event of a signal going off-air during broadcast, the operator can, at a glance, view whether it was because of the absence of the MCR output or a problem along the chain.
The system with the fiber link and requisite monitoring equipment was designed and then integrated by at the site. The complete design, sourcing, system integration and implementation was done by Benchmark for Eenadu Television.
